The United States Sports Academy (USSA), founded in 1972, is a nonprofit private institution located in Daphne, Alabama, offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees with a focus on sports education. It is the only independent sports college in the United States, and its founding was directly related to the issues of injury treatment and coaching guidance for American athletes during the 1972 Munich Olympics.
